The underlying montage for this stunning original work was achieved by superimposing the methane bubbles of Abraham Lake with a capture of the Artist's face using a timer. These stunning ice fissures are only visible for a few weeks of the year and as such, the artist bundled up all four of her children and took them out for a seven hour round-trip in order to capture this natural phenomena. The family had to return for a second shoot due to the bitter cold, but she achieved the desired shots by pulling up her van right next to the glacial lake and trekking solo onto the ice after attempting an initial shoot with the whole crew. These fissures were intentionally captured in order to translate them to the face and figure in studio.
The juxtaposition of the warm, sensual mouth with the glacial tones is not only striking, but a beautiful rendering of the mouth in a time when we have been forced to cover this natural beauty. The visceral hues within this original work have been protected beneath a UV-resistant varnish in order to preserve that fresh-from-the-palette look. 'White Oleander" can be delivered and installed by the artist locally (i.e. Calgary, AB & Surrounding Local) or shipped for an additional cost.
