HUMAN CANVAS
My personal emancipation came through a series of three stages; the first being an incident where I was lost in the mountains surrounding Kitimat, BC at the age of sixteen years. The abuse had escalated just prior to this ordeal, but it came to a full-stop after I was able to find my way back to civilization. My encounter with a bear during this episode only served to foster an indelible pull towards the wilderness.
The second stage was when I chose to tell someone about the abuse as a young adult, risking this vulnerability is an essential step for any victim. Being naked, as opposed to "nude," is a state of vulnerability as a human being, so it was the fitting choice for this body of work.
"My body is a tool that I wield on impulse and the canvas upon which I write."

The third stage on my healing journey was when I discovered my creative voice. Despite repercussions within my life, staying true to this authentic voice was necessary, as it is for any artist. My fascination with the human figure, the face and the narrative within them is endless. If you would like to share your story in a similar fashion, please do not hesitate to contact me; simply fill out the form on the link below and I will be sure to be in touch. Everyone has a novel within them; I consider it my duty and honor to share some of this beauty.
With Gratitude,
Jennifer Peters
Dibond metal prints are sprayed directly onto the white aluminum metal surface with state of the art equipment and can be mounted to any surface via the 3/4" deep inset frame. As there is no paper or canvas surface affixed to the surface, the UV-resistant inks will not fade, even if they are displayed out of doors. The gloss white metal, as opposed to the gloss brushed clear aluminum, serves to preserve the true vibrant color of the original piece. Select pieces will be printed onto the clear aluminum as a chosen effect by the artist, so the metal surface will be visible through the lighter layers of the piece.
