In Studio
I begin each morning in studio with a series of sketches on a three dimensional scale. These sessions are an integral aspect of my creative process, as an artist must be 'warmed up' in order to create anything of value. To relinquish control and allow oneself to play as a child is to discover truly genuine and authentic expression. Different elements are pushed, pulled, combined and arranged, as the eye is continually trained in composition, discernment and perspective.
It is through these initial dress rehearsals in studio that an eventual concept, image and overall composition for a given exhibition begins to take shape. Some of these pieces are pulled together in a matter of days, others take months or even years, as the work is set aside until a maturity and complete vision has become clear.
